Bermuda digital nomad visa: requirements (2026)
Digital nomad visa in Bermuda: via other route.
Bermuda's dedicated remote-worker visa, the 'Work from Bermuda' (WFB) One-Year Residential Certificate launched in 2020, officially concluded on 28 February 2025 and is no longer being issued. In its place, the Government has transitioned back to multi-year Permission to Reside (up to five years) for individuals not employed locally, alongside the Economic Investment Residential Certificate (EIRC) for high-net-worth applicants; there is no dedicated digital-nomad visa in force in 2026.
Legal framework
Bermuda Immigration and Protection Act 1956; Permission to Reside (multi-year) and Economic Investment Residential Certificate (EIRC) policies administered by the Department of Immigration and Ministry of Economy & Labour
Key points: digital nomad & residency in Bermuda
Digital-nomad visa discontinued
The 'Work from Bermuda' Certificate, which had allowed remote workers and remote-learning students to reside for 12 months, officially ended on 28 February 2025 per the Ministry of Economy and Labour; no successor nomad-specific visa has been introduced.
Multi-year Permission to Reside
The Government has resumed multi-year residency applications; Permission to Reside can be granted for periods of up to five years to applicants over 18 of good character with adequate financial resources and valid health insurance, but does not itself confer the right to work locally.
Economic Investment Residential Certificate (EIRC)
Work permits are the norm for local employment
Tax context
Bermuda levies no personal income tax, capital-gains, or inheritance tax, which historically made it attractive to remote workers; however, without the WFB certificate, remote work for a foreign employer while residing on other permits sits in a legally undefined space.
Long-term status pathway
Permanent Resident's Certificates (PRCs) are available only to those who have resided legally in Bermuda (typically on a work permit) for at least the qualifying period; PRC does not itself confer the right to work without a permit and is not a remote-worker route.
