Nomad Digital & Program Residensi: Indonesia (2026)

Visa khususIndeks negara 83 · A

Indonesia has a dedicated remote-worker route: the E33G KITAS, launched 1 April 2024, is a one-year, multiple-entry stay permit expressly for foreigners employed by an overseas company, requiring at least USD 60,000 annual foreign-source income and no local employer sponsor. Alongside it, the Second Home Visa (5- or 10-year) and the Golden Visa (E28 investor categories) provide longer-term residency by deposit, property, or investment. Freelancers and sole traders remain awkwardly served — there is no dedicated freelance KITAS, and self-employed foreigners typically must incorporate a PT PMA to work legally onshore.

Kerangka kerja utama

Remote Worker Visa (index E33G / 'Visa Rumah Kedua Pekerja Jarak Jauh') administered by the Directorate General of Immigration (Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi), Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, under Indonesia's immigration law framework; complemented by the Second Home Visa (E33E) and the Golden Visa (E28 series) for investors.

Poin utama

  1. Dedicated digital-nomad visa (E33G)

Introduced by the Directorate General of Immigration in April 2024, E33G is Indonesia's first stay permit expressly for remote work; it is valid for one year, allows multiple entries, does not require an Indonesian sponsor, and permits dependents to join.

  2. Persyaratan kelayakan dan batas penghasilan E33G

Applicants must show at least USD 60,000 in annual income from foreign employers/clients and roughly USD 2,000 in personal bank balance for the prior three months; income from Indonesian entities and local employment are prohibited.

  3. Second Home Visa (E33E)

A separate 5- or 10-year residence route requiring proof of IDR 2 billion (~USD 130,000) in an Indonesian state bank or ownership of luxury property valued at IDR 5 billion+; issued without a local sponsor and can lead to KITAP permanent residency after three years.

  4. Golden Visa (E28 series)

Residency-by-investment program with tiers including E28C portfolio investment (USD 350k/5 yrs or USD 700k/10 yrs in bonds, listed shares, or deposits), E28B company establishment (USD 2.5M/5 yrs or USD 5M/10 yrs), and higher tiers for corporate executives (E28D) and Nusantara capital investors (E28F).

  5. Freelancers & self-employed — no dedicated route

There is no freelance KITAS; foreigners cannot operate as sole traders in their own name. Genuine freelancers typically incorporate a PT PMA (foreign-owned company) which then sponsors a Working/Investor KITAS, or use short-term B211A visit visas of up to 60+60+60 days that do not confer local work rights.

  6. Tax residency trigger

Physical presence of 183+ days within any 12-month period makes the holder an Indonesian tax resident on worldwide income; the E33G status itself does not shield holders from this rule, a significant caveat highlighted by advisers and by the Directorate General of Taxes.
